Des Browne says Britain should reach out to elements of the Taliban

Britain should reach out to elements of the Taliban who can be won over to democracy, Defence Secretary Des Browne has suggested.

He said individuals had to be judged by their actions and those disposed to persuasion had to be engaged even if their views were disagreeable.

He applied the same point to the Lebanese paramilitary group Hizbollah as well as the Taliban enemy of British troops in Afghanistan.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph on Saturday, he said: "What you need to do in conflict resolution is to bring the people who believe that the answer to their political ambitions will be achieved through violence into a frame of mind that they accept that their political ambitions will be delivered by politics.

He said there was currently "no basis of negotiation with al Qaeda".

He added: "But the Taliban is a collective noun. There are some people who are driven by their own self interest rather than ideology.

"There's no question that we should try to reach them. People have been switched.

"We have to get people who have previously been on the side of the Taliban to come onto the side of the Government."

BUT, Militant Islam is only part of the problem! Quietly, lawfully, peacefully, Islamists do their work throughout the West to impose aspects of Islamic law, win special privileges for themselves, shut down criticism of Islam, create Muslim-only zones, and deprive women and non-Muslims of their full civil rights.

Recent examples of lawful Islamism include:

* Leading Muslim students in prayer at a public San Diego elementary school (the US has a constitutional separation of church and stae).
* Allowing cab drivers in Vancouver, B.C. to refuse certified guide dogs for reasons of religious conviction.
* Admonishing doctors and nurses in Scotland to refrain from eating in front of their Muslim patients and colleagues during the month of Ramadan.
* Proposing in the Netherlands that people of all faiths refer to God as Allah in order to “create more dialogue.”
* The Archbishop of Canterbury’s arguing that adopting elements of Sharia law in Britain would benefit social cohesion.
* Allowing members of polygamous marriages to claim extra welfare benefits in Britain.
* Sponsoring a Muslim lifeguard program for the benefit of private female sessions at the city pool in Mississauga, Canada.
* Dropping Knorbert the piglet as mascot of Fortis Bank for fear of offending Muslims.

… those of you who have trawled the Express, Telegraph, Daily Mail, or BNP websites, will of course be able to add to this list. The Islamist “Lawfare”.. as opposed to "Warfare" challenge poses an increasingly serious threat to our democratic freedoms. Should the voices of counter-terrorism researchers and activists be silenced, a real possibility exists that the criticism of radical Islam within our borders will end.

So, No.. we would be fools to "reach out" with the Taliban. This is the first stage of their appeasement. The BNP is the ONLY party that can see the writing on the wall. Nick Griffin was almost jailed for 7 years for doing what the BBC did last week, in exposing Muslim men grooming white British children for prostitution. The Beeb, of course, used the word "Asian" which, I am sure, has upset many Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Chinese people, to find themselves lumped in with Muslims. We must stop the erosion of free speech in the name of appeasement that is part and parcel of the multicultural experiment that is devastating communities across Britain. NO to appeasement, YES to free speech. YES to the BNP:

Every reasonable person living and paying taxes in the UK, are most definitely living through a horrendous nightmare! And until we get rid of the Labour liars, cheats and traitors, will continue so to do! All it takes come the local and national elections, is one little cross! Shouldn't be too difficult for a person with a bit of common sense.

This is a complete betrayal of our Armed Forces who have fought in Afghanistan, 6 months ago Browne's puppet master Gordon Brown said that he would never speak to the Taliban, I can hardly believe that Des Browne would suggest this now without Brown's permission so is our bottling Prime Minister hiding behind his Defence Secretary?.

You are not alone!

In this world, there are good people and bad people. In the same way, there are good governments and bad governments. Unfortunately, as you say, we were conned (by the “charmer” Blair) into electing a bad government which then imposed a chameleon leader on us who we never would have elected if we had had any choice in the matter.

Now we find ourselves led by this bad leader, who employs bad people to do his dirty work by talking to and appeasing bad people. In my opinion this bad leftie, do-gooding Labour appeaser Browne has utterly forgotten what the Taliban actually stand for. Very convenient!

Labour (Browne) has obviously forgotten the Taliban’s repulsive treatment of women. They have forgotten the Taliban’s anti-female policies such as obligatory dress code, limitations on movement, bars on employment, lack of basic education, restrictions on health care etc. Labour has forgotten the Taliban’s total intolerance of all other religions, destruction of Buddhist monuments and their attempts to eradicate all forms of enjoyment from life in Afghanistan (dancing banned, music banned, TV banned, Radio banned - do I need to go on?)

Browne’s “reach out to Taliban'” has come on the same day that the Taliban’s friendly associates threatened the staff of a London website and forced it to pull the plug on a video because they did not like the content. In fact, Liveleak dot com described the threats as "VERY SERIOUS"!!!! I am therefore a bit wound up about our “bad” government suggesting appeasement of any kind towards the Taliban or any of its friends or associates.

Appeasement did not work in 1939 with Hitler and it will not work now with the Taliban or its friends.

Therefore, Abuela, you are right, you ARE definitely living in a nightmare where Labour appeasers threaten the very existence of this message board and our freedom of speech, thought, opinion and culture.

We must get these appeasers out of government.

Gosh, I am glad I got that off my chest!

Elements of the world's most belligerent theocracy are being wooed with democracy........by giving out free Qur'ans!

The EU (that's us) have paid for a mosque in Afghanistan (Saudi Arabia just can't afford it, I suppose). Muslim Saudi Arabian soldiers are working with us, giving out free Qur'ans and British sweets to win hearts this, of course will bring about democracy, they will all discuss it over a Bible study, I mean a Qur'an study in the mosque, I'm certain of it.

I can't put it any better myself, so I shall leave it to Aisha, one of the 9 wives of Mohammed. She was a 6 year old when he married her and the marriage was consumated when she was 9.

.......nothing changes then. Wake up Britain!!!! teach your children the facts or someone else will fill them with propaganda.
