PRINCESS Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell was “obviously” lying when he gave evidence at her inquest, the Coroner said today.

Lord Justice Baker tore into the former royal butler, who infamously branded himself “Diana’s rock,” for not telling the truth at the inquest.

The Coroner added that the rat was "quite a porous rock" considering the number of her secrets he had leaked.

In his second day of summing up, the Coroner told the jury: “You have heard him in the witness box and even without what he said subsequently in the hotel room in New York, it was blindingly obvious wasn’t it that the evidence that he gave in this court was not the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”

Burrell, who was secretly caught on camera admitting to laying “a couple of red herrings” in his evidence, has refused to ever return to Diana’s inquest to face allegations that he lied to the jury.

The disgraced royal aide has said he is “too scared” to reappear at the inquest as he feared lawyers would “tear him to shreds.”

Despite being ordered to return to Britain after confessing on camera that he was “fully aware” that he was committing perjury, Burrell is too frightened to leave his safe haven in the US.

Since Princess Diana's death, Burrell has built a career from his connections with Princess Diana, describing himself to the jury as the “hub” of the wheel of Diana’s confidantes.

The Coroner issued a severe health warning today on how the jury should treat Burrell’s evidence.

He said: “You will probably want to take with a pinch of salt many things that he said in evidence because of the inconsistencies and, you may think, lies in what he told you.”

Yesterday the Coroner said: “One of the regrettable features of this case is the number of people who it appears have told lies in the witness box or elsewhere.

“Some are liars by their own admission. I refer to James Andanson, Paul Burrell and John Macnamara.”

A decision on whether to launch a police investigation into claims that Burrell committed perjury is expected to be taken shortly after the inquest verdict is returned.

Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed were killed in a car crash in the Alma tunnel in Paris in August 1997.

That was a great laugh!

Does that mean that Burrell is the only "obvious liar" loitering with intent within the Palace of Westminster or any other UK palace come to that?

paul burrell is an high class mincer,they can be bought on line, and can be deliverd by ROYAL MAIL, for 9.35 which includes post and packaging.
plus you can return it if you are not satisfied, but it comes with spare parts!! plus a few red herrings thrown in for free.
