CAMERON PILES PRESSURE ON BROWN

David Cameron is warning voters away from Brown

Tuesday May 6,2008

By Julia White for express.co.uk

DAVID CAMERON cranked up the pressure on under-fire Prime Minister Gordon Brown today.

The Conservative party leader used the 10p tax rate fiasco to deliver a further blow to Labour - vowing to make it the key issue in a crunch by-election.

Adding to the worst spell of Brown's premiership so far, Cameron warned voters in Crewe and Nantwich that a Labour victory would allow the Prime Minister to tell rebels MPs to “get lost”.

He said: “This is our top campaigning priority for the next couple of weeks.

“Our message will focus in particular on the 10p tax rate and how Gordon Brown is hurting the people of Crewe with tax increases just at the moment their cost of living is going up.

"The people of Crewe should ask themselves: if Labour win, won’t Gordon Brown breathe a sigh of relief, think ’I’ve got away with it’ and tell Frank Field and everyone else to get lost."

With Labour backbenchers panicking in the wake of disastrous local elections, the Prime Minister was hoping that he could start the week on a high with a series of populist measures which would change his fortunes.

However, the most high profile - backtracking on controversial pay-as-you-throw litter charges - threatened to backfire when council leaders accused him of wasting millions of pounds by “dithering”.

And with Frank Field poised to revive his damaging rebellion over the 10p tax band abolition, Cameron's comments threatened to make it another terrible week for the Prime Minister.

Chancellor Alistair Darling averted a major backbench rebellion by promising to come up with a package based around tax credits, the minimum wage and additional winter fuel allowance payments.

However, the rebels are now demanding clearer detail of the specific measures.

The Crewe and Nantwich by-election has been forced by last month’s death of Labour MP Gwyneth Dunwoody - whose daughter Tamsin is defending the seat for Labour.

I WOULD BE INTERESTED MR CAMERON....

06.05.08, 10:24pm

where you stand on the news today that MP's are apparently trying to sneak in a massive pay-rise for themselves. Are you for it, or a man of integrity, and therefore against it?

For MP's to vote themselves such a huge hike, when we mere mortals are just struggling to pay ever increasing bills and taxes, to put it bluntly at a time like this, just rubbing our noses in it, led by Michael Martin, who to my knowledge, isn't even an MP!

I haven't made my mind up about you yet Mr Cameron. You have to prove to the country, that you are worthy of the Premiership in the next two years. The "environmentally friendly" episode with the push-bike didn't help did it? But I'm willing to forgive the odd slip.

If you really are the man of the people you paint yourself to be, put your money where your mouth is, and speak for the people, not just the privileged few.

We want real change and action this time for the interests of OUR nation. We do not the same as we've had for the past umpteen years. IF the nation votes Tory at the next general election, you owe us!

CAMERON PUTS PRESSURE ON BROWN

06.05.08, 10:08pm

since the collection of taxes started all those years ago to fight wars and make the lords and royalty rich nothing has changed as far as if you dont pay they will either take you and put you in prison or take your possesions to pay .no matter who is in power one thing is certain they will want your money and at the rate labour are going we will not have alot left over ,people are all ready cutting cost to make ends meet and there is still people who face hardship in the uk ,what we need is a government that is accountable to the british public one that alows the country to have a say on political matters at home and in europe ,labour has done nothing to make the people of this country proud to be british because they are to buisy selling us out to europe.

SOD A REFERENDUM!!!!!!!

06.05.08, 6:28pm

We don't want Gormless or his loony Nu labour numpties, so lets go for the jugular and say we want a General Election. I for one, never wanted them, hence they never got my vote, and why? because Blair for a start was so obviously a lying scheming prat and Gormless is worse. So many could see this, yet they got in "3" times, and why? because so many were to lazy to get off their arses to vote the scum out. To often my vote was a minority, but this time, it counted, but more of you out there need to use your votes. Change wont happen unless we make it happen.

I HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE WORDS SPOKEN BY MR GORDON BROWN

06.05.08, 6:25pm

Just a brief point here. I have no confidence, faith, trust and belief in any words or utterances made by this man called PM.

And I think it is so with quite lots of Brits who has been betrayed by him. He broke his promise of a referedum, he destroyed hard work and industry and encouraged lazziness and ease.

He destroyed the traditional marriage. He Increased the wave of Islamic migration and the building of a Mega mosques. He introduced Islamic banking system. He robbed the hard working families to pay Islamic terrorists with multiple wives. He made Britain a haven for Islamic terrorists to claim assylum in Britain because their Eu Human right would be infringed upon in Jordan
Brown should let us alone by calling for an urgent election so that we can retake back our nation from those who wants to destroy us.

IF BROWN IS LISTENING WHY CAN HE NO HEAR THAT WE WANT A REFERNDUM

06.05.08, 5:56pm

Brown says that he is listening to the voters. Well, listen carefully, Gordon: we want a referendum on the European Union constitution or treaty or whatever you chose to call it. If we had one, more people would vote that voted in the elections last week and you would restore Labour's fading credibility.
