MANDELSON: TAX CHANGE 'BIG MISTAKE'

Peter Mandelson

Thursday May 8,2008

One of the architects of New Labour, Peter Mandelson, has warned that Gordon Brown risks losing power unless he identifies himself more clearly with the principles which won Tony Blair three General Elections.

Mr Mandelson said that the scrapping of the 10p income tax rate was "a very big mistake" which breached the New Labour tenet that the Government should help the poorest and neediest in society.

But he said he believes that the Prime Minister is still committed to the New Labour project and is capable of turning around the party's fortunes before the General Election expected in 2010.

Mr Mandelson identified the four key pillars of New Labour as fiscal discipline, investment and reform in public services, helping the poor and maintaining strong partnerships with Europe and the USA.

And he warned: "Those were the four basic tenets of New Labour, they gave us our success in the last 10 years, and if they continued to be operated and improved so that they evolve, they will provide success for the Labour Party in the years to come.

"But if you abandon those tenets you are going to abandon key segments of public support for New Labour and I'm afraid that in those circumstances we are going to lose the next election.

Asked if Mr Brown would be able to do this, Mr Mandelson replied: "I think he has satisfied his colleagues, he has satisfied me, that he is New Labour.

"But the actions of his Government, the policies of his Government, the new ideas of his Government have got to bear that out to the satisfaction of the public as a whole and I believe if they do that successfully, they can and they will win the next General Election."

"MANDELSON" STICK YOUR SMOKE AND MIRRORS VIEW WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE !

08.05.08, 9:23pm

Who in the love of all things holy would listen to a word this Traitor would dare to say, Mandelson should just keep his trap shut, keep taking the money and keep a low profile, he should count his lucky stars he is not doing a ten year stretch for fraud ?

He is in the right place , with his credentials, he will have job for life, he would not know "principles" if it was hanging off the end of his nose.

In real life there would very few people that would let him run a bath for them ? let alone be an "Ambassador" for the UK amongst hundreds of European crooks.

My advice , keep your head down, and put your snout back in the trough : untill you really learn what the word "Principles" means.

The whole of arrogant labour is in denial.

They just don't get it do they - that we are sick to death of them, and NOTHING they do, can possibly change that fact.

'BIG MISTAKE'

08.05.08, 12:50pm

Even if Mandelson could get Brown to try Tony's little trick of telling us "things can only get better" nobody would listen. Nobody would believe him. We have heard it all before and Labour's lies won't work any more. We know things never got better and we have now had enough of New Labour, Old Labour, Hard Labour and all shades of Labour.

PETERS SAYS...

08.05.08, 12:09pm

Peter says;

Mr Mandelson identified the four key pillars of New Labour as fiscal discipline, investment and reform in public services, helping the poor and maintaining strong partnerships with Europe and the USA

1. Fiscal discipline i.e. rob the poor to give to the rich. Raid the pensions etc.

2. Investment - in their expenses and second homes.

3. Helping the poor - How, where, when?

4. Maintain strong partnership with Europe - because they all want a cushy number like loser Kinnock and his family.

This sleezy crook doesn't need to point out the failings of our moribund Govt. it's bloody obvious to all of us.
