Martin and Hannah Adamson celebrate their Lottery win in Plymouth

Tuesday May 13,2008

A couple scooped nearly £1.5 million on the Lottery a week after getting married and changing their numbers to incorporate their wedding day.

Martin Adamson, a Royal Navy weapons engineer, has played the Lottery for 13 years and changed his selection of numbers to incorporate his wedding day on Sunday, May 4.

A week later on Saturday, May 10, the 29-year-old hit the jackpot and won £1,477,059 together with his new wife, Hannah, 22, a student teacher.

The couple are now planning to start their future in style with a luxury honeymoon in Las Vegas and Hawaii.

Mr Adamson, from Plymouth, Devon, said: "I saw the numbers come up on the TV. I called up to Hannah, she didn't believe me when I said we'd won the jackpot.

"Winning the lottery has been the perfect end to a dream week.

"We got married, we're looking forward to the birth of our first child, and now we can buy a house and have a honeymoon too."

The lucky couple, who are expecting their first child in November, can also now afford their dream family home.

Mr Adamson said they thought they would have to move out of their own house and into Navy quarters when the baby was born.

The winning Lotto numbers were 4, 14, 18, 24, 32 and 40.
