Rosimeiri Boxall, 19, suffered fatal internal injuries after falling from a house in Coleraine Road, Blackheath, south-east London.

She was adopted as a toddler in Brazil by Simon Boxall, vicar at Open Gateway Community Church in Thamesmead, south-east London, and his wife Rachel. The couple raised Ms Boxall as their own alongside their four natural sons.

But after the family returned from South America three years ago Ms Boxall dropped out of school and left home, her grandfather, John Pullinger told the Daily Mail. The retired chartered surveyor said her parents had not known where she was living and were "very concerned" about her welfare.

Mr Pullinger said: "Rosimeiri moved out as soon as she turned 18 and her parents had not seen much of her. She desperately wanted to break out and do what she wanted, without the restrictions of living with her family.

"Her parents did not know where she was living, or who she was living with as she wouldn't tell them. She had not quite cut them off, but her life was very much a secret. We don't know anything about these people she was with when she died."

In a statement on Monday the Boxall family said: "The loss of Rosimeiri, a much loved sister and daughter, has left a void in this close-knit family that cannot be filled.

"Rosi was adopted but she was our daughter and sister. She was a loving, caring person who brought frequently-remembered times of fun and laughter to the family and who was much loved by her three nieces. More than just a daughter and sister, she was also a great friend who will always be missed."

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Homicide and Serious Crime Command are probing whether two teenage girls pushed her through the open window after a row in the property which is divided into bedsits for the homeless. The pair, aged 13 and 17, were arrested and released on police bail following the incident on Saturday at about 6.30pm.

Ms Boxall was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital but died about an hour later. A post-mortem examination found she died of internal injuries.
