DIESEL MONTHLY RISE AT 10 YEAR HIGH

Story Image

Diesel price protest

Wednesday May 21,2008

Road users have had to endure the highest month-on-month increase in the price of diesel this decade, the AA said.

Between mid-April and mid-May, the average price of diesel rose 6.76p to 124.17p a litre.

The previous record rise - of 5.6p a litre - occurred between October and November last year.

The average price of petrol at the pumps has risen 4.49p a litre in the last month, with the cost now 112.55p a litre.

Since early last week, the price of petrol has risen 1.73p a litre while diesel has gone up 2.66p.

On average, supermarkets are 2.5p cheaper for petrol and 4.0p a litre less expensive for diesel.

London is currently the most expensive place for petrol - averaging 113.3p a litre. The least expensive petrol is to be found in Yorkshire and Humberside (111.6p a litre). North west England has the cheapest diesel (123.5p a litre) and Wales the dearest (124.7p a litre).

AA president Edmund King said: "The price rises in recent days were of a magnitude only exceeded in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, when the price of petrol rose almost 3.5p in a week. With many UK families embarking on their holidays next week, the timing could hardly be worse."

He continued: "What alarms us most is the stream of comments coming from the industry and producers saying that oil is over-priced - the finger of blame being pointed at market speculators.

"Oil prices have doubled since last year and this is not just due to strong demand from China and other nations. While huge profits are made in the financial centres, an increasing number of car-owners are becoming desperate and businesses suffer from the hit on consumer spending."

FUEL CON

21.05.08, 11:17pm

If we had a really decent, honest and caring government, they would drop the fuel tax to a reasonable level! But seeing as we have a bunch of lying, cheating, theiving traitors in government at the moment, the paople of this country are just gong to have to bite the bullet, until the next elections. Anyone voting Labour then, are obviously dead from the ankles upwards!

DIESEL MONTHLY RISE AT 10 YEAR HIGH

21.05.08, 9:22am

A pal of mine in Spain emailed me to tell me that the price of Diesel in Spain has rocketed to unprecedented heights.

He is now having to pay One Euro 20 cents a litre. ( That in English money is 98 pence a litre).

Scandalous isnt it - makes me wonder how the Spanish are going to be able to manage at those prices.

FUEL CELLS REVERSE DEISEL & PETROL INCREASES.

21.05.08, 8:54am

Save your business by installing fuel cells in trucks , cars, busses, boats, vans central heating and boilers. Fuel cells use water as their basic fuel & after burning the HHO gas it reverts to water. Installing Fuiel Cells can potentially save £40 out of every £100.00 you spend on diesel, in other words 40%. Savings on petrol can be far higher.
I visited this site: www.Tfuelcell.co.uk
The government won't help because they want their ever growing high taxation. The cost of the oil input is 35pence and the rest is tax and VAT. Brown just said the other day he cant understand why fuel is so expensive. Could I make a suggestion TAX of up to 330%.

CREWE&NANTWICH VOTERS - ENGLAND EXPECTS

21.05.08, 8:45am

Arch-deceiver stealth tax specialist Brown is taking ever more in tax from these soaring fuel prices. But you can be sure that the CPI inflation index will hardly change because of various massaging techniques deployed by this deceitful government eg "seasonal adjustment". Surely any government that lies, lies and lies again to the people loses all legitimacy. Voters of Crewe and Nantwich you MUST give this government the most severe kicking on Thursday.
