Stephen McManus: Desire

Thursday May 22,2008

By Ally Guthrie

Skipper Stephen McManus last night disclosed Celtic's desire to seal the championship had increased by 50% since the passing of Tommy Burns.

And the stopper confirmed the title would be dedicated to the Celtic legend if the champs make it three-in-a-row crowns at Tannadice tonight.

Celtic buried their former manager and player on Tuesday and now the players and staff must turn their attention to finishing the flag job against Dundee United.

"This has probabaly given us another 50% motivation," stated McManus. If there's one person we could certainly do it for, then it would be Tommy.

"We have one game to win and if we can do that, then it will be great. One thing's for sure - every single one of us will be knocking our pan in to do it.

"It's something in life you just have to deal with and we have done our best to try to deal with it as best we can.

"We have every single one of us together and we have been there for each other this week, the players and the coaches.

"I will certainly be doing my best - along with the team - to win this game.Anything can happen in football and we are certainly not taking anything for granted. We can win the game and still lose the league, you never know."
