CREDIT CRUNCH 'COULD LEAD TO TENSION AS JOBS GO TO FOREIGNERS'
Police chief Spence has warned migrants and Britons face fewer jobs
By Tom Whitehead, Home affairs correspondent
THE credit crunch could lead to violence and rising tensions in our communities as migrants and Britons face fewer jobs, a chief constable warned yesterday.
Julie Spence also indicated the true number of East European workers who have flocked here could be more than 1.4million.
She attacked the Government for its slowness in responding to the problem, likening it to an “oil tanker” when it should be “an Admiral’s Cup yacht.”
The Cambridgeshire Chief Constable also revealed the scale of the pressure on policing and warned that in her force there are foreign nationals in her cells “every day”.
Vietnamese drug dealers are gaining Bulgarian passports to make it easier to get into Britain as EU citizens. Similarly, Russians are posing as Poles, she said.
She called for an EU-wide criminal convictions database amid concerns that police aren’t aware of the backgrounds of new arrivals.
Mrs Spence told the Police Federation conference: “We do wonder what is going to happen as the credit crunch starts to bite and we have already heard: ‘People are taking our jobs.’
“What does the future hold? We have to be very alive and alert to that as police officers if we want to live in cohesive communities.”
She said she didn’t trust “poor” Government figures and said the number of Eastern European workers could be underestimated by up to two-thirds.
Official figures from the Home Office this week show 845,000 workers have come from the former Eastern Bloc nations since they joined the EU in 2004.
By Mrs Spence’s estimate that would mean the true numbers would be more than 1.4 million.

Reading the comments in the Express to-day I get the Feeling that people in the UK think they are the only people in the world suffering from the financial crisis.Open yor eyes, the whole western world is hit by it.You complain about high petrol prices and taxes but you live in a society of cradle to grave welfare, tax credits job seeker allowance child allowance free health care and on and on and on.You complain about the EU but the British people VOTED to join, its not like Europe came and kidnapped Btitain and made you join.
I read constantly that the British are fed up with immigrants and foreingners but when Enoch Powell warned Britain about the effects of immigration etc in the 1960s he was branded
as racist lunatic, looks to me he knew what he was talking about.I live in the USA and pay electric and gas bills that would make you cry, Im not complaing because I chose to live here and have done well because I worked my rear end off, but Brits should see the effects of the credit crunch here. Wake up Britain you dont know how luccky you are.

"CREDIT CRUNCH" SOUNDS MORE USER FRIENDLY AND LESS SERIOUS, THAN THE WORD "RECESSION"
22.05.08, 5:39pm
Which is why the last recession was always dubbed endlessy by ministers "The World Recession" (with great emphasis on the word "World").
This one is dubbed "The Global Credit Crunch" in NuLab 'SpinSpeak'.
Obviously by using this term, it's hoped that we'll all think it's not so bad, and it'll deflect from their mismanagement.
They really DO think we're that stupid.

CREDIT CRUNCH?
22.05.08, 4:02pm
Credit crunch has become a catch phrase. It should be replaced with Brown's chickens are coming home to roost and there are no perches for them, they have all been burned, as in bridges. The future, not only of Brown but Blair too, is in Brussels. That's why we were denied a referendum.

VIOLENCE AND RISING TENSIONS IN OUR COMMUNITIES
22.05.08, 3:51pm
An inevitable result of relentless European Union expansion to the east and the EU's Shengen "open borders" agreement.
The EU is a trojan horse lurking amongst us.
We ain't seen nothing yet.
Lets get out of the EU before the powder keg explodes.
