An attack of double pneumonia saw Jason Pierce abandon what became Songs In A&E for a two-year recovery period.

His intentions for the album before the illness aren’t clear, but the result is a gently wasted ode to the experience, with Pierce singing as though his consciousness is dissolving under mists of anaesthetic.

Only the corrosive You Lie You Cheat sees the guitars truly yowl.
