The grandson of anti-gun campaigner Pat Regan has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with her murder.

The body of Mrs Regan, 53, was discovered in Marlborough Grange, Leeds, on Sunday evening. She had been stabbed.

Rakeim Regan, 20, was remanded to June 11 when he will appear before Leeds Crown Court.

Regan, who appeared before magistrates in Leeds, is also accused of wounding with intent following the stabbing of a railway worker at Leeds station on Sunday.

Regan, dressed in a grey sweatshirt and blue track suit bottoms, looked disorientated as he emerged into the dock mumbling and fidgeting.

Regan, of Hatton Road, Leeds, spoke only to confirm his name and address during the five-minute hearing.

Grahame Stowe, defending, made no application for bail.
