IMMIGRANTS TO BLAME FOR SURGE IN CRIME SAYS POLICE CHIEF

FEARS: Police chief Julie Spence

Wednesday June 4,2008

By Tom Whitehead Home Affairs Correspondent

IMMIGRANTS are behind a surge in crime, one of the country’s top officers warned yesterday.

Cambridgeshire Chief Constable Julie Spence said three nationalities were causing the biggest problems for her beleaguered force.

Rises in assaults and knife crime were worst among Poles, Lithuanians and Iraqi Kurds, she told MPs. And the effect of mass migration under Labour had had an “immense” impact on police resources.

Mrs Spence, who has regularly warned about the impact of immigration, raised concerns that the three nationalities, who have recently arrived in Britain in large numbers, tend to carry knives.

She said: “We have had the Iraqi Kurds who carry knives and the Poles and the Lithuanians.

Anybody in the community, as we know in relation to London, will carry a knife. We have done a lot to tell them not to, and we have seen it go down.” Shadow Home Secretary David Davis said: “Under Labour fatal stabbings are up by almost a third and the Government’s lax approach means people carry knives in the street with impunity.

“We need more effective action to tackle knife possession – regardless of who has them. This means taking a zero-tolerance approach – including action to confiscate such weapons and punish those carrying them.

Only this will send a clear message that we are serious about tackling a problem, which one senior judge has labelled an epidemic.”

Mrs Spence appeared before the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee and also highlighted problems related to violent debt recovery among Eastern European arrivals. She described the trend of growing labour and sexual exploitation, mainly within former Communist communities whose nations have joined the EU since 2004, as “very worrying”.

The impact on resources in her force had been “immense” and the position just six or nine months ago is different to now. And she warned some are arriving to work in the black economy and therefore not showing up in official figures.

Mrs Spence repeated concerns that dealing with foreigners takes two to three times longer because of translation issues or checking the history of people.

Local Government Association chairman Sir Simon Milton said: “Nationally there has been no crime wave but there are instances where there have been spikes in certain types of criminal activity.”

He said parts of the country that were facing “sudden very significant increases” and found it difficult to manage.

Local councils have already attacked the Government’s counting methods following the inflows from the expansion of the EU into Eastern Europe in 2004 – the A8 countries – and last year – the A2 nations of Bulgaria and Romania.

A Home Office spokeswoman said: “The vast majority of foreign nationals entering or living in the UK play by our rules. However, we will not accommodate those that abuse our hospitality by becoming involved in crime.

“The UK Border Agency has a national network of crime partnerships with the police so that we stand shoulder to shoulder with police forces and systematically target foreign law breakers for expulsion.”

EU citizens have freedom of movement within member states but can be deported and barred for 10 years. A leaked report in April warned that EU migration had brought a “huge surge in the exploitation of migrants and organised crime”.

IMMIGRANTS TO BLAME FOR SURGE IN CRIME SAYS POLICE CHIEF

05.06.08, 10:04am

What chance do the police have? they try to arrest someone who may speak one of over 300 languages pretending they don't speak english. The interpreter arrives who doesn't know that particular dialect (all the while the suspect understands what is being said anyway, this is apparent by answering the question before it has been translated often. The interpreter costs a few hundred pounds, the suspect is without a job or money,so they can't be fined or even imprisoned because there is no room in the prisons as all the selfish pensioners who can't pay their council tax have taken available spaces.
This just leaves the police with one alternative in order to reach their arrest target and that is to aim at someone who works and has a permanent
address becaise he will be able ,to be finedt

THE CRUX OF THE PROBLEM

05.06.08, 8:19am

SO WHATS NEW
but then again perhaps none of us has the guts out ancestors had.

I think jessica's comment is correct and the reason is :

No common identity or common sense in our society. The looney political elite eroded this from the 70s onwards disguised as multiculturisim. This was a phrase used to stiffle any debate or objections. If anyone dared speak the truth God help them. They made any reference to our past as bad and something for us all to feel ashamed.

The biggest joke is they preached bringing communities together and look at the mess we're in ghettos within ghettos.

Then we have to listen to some Goverment funded group advocate for this cultural, race minority group. Hey but its all about bringing communities together they say but only if we can get this or that extra.

The biggest joke of all we're the idiots that allowed this to happen. We all seem to be debating the symptoms of the problem but never look at the real causes (thats the problem). U

THIS GOVERMENT DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH

04.06.08, 11:06pm

This lady by telling the truth is talking to those who do not want to listen. There is none so blind as those who will not see. This goverment does not want to admit it is wrong as they are in so many issues. This EU invasion was started by Blair and co to keep the working class in their places by keeping their wages down and taxing them to keep these migrants. They have been keeping rich business people happy in flooding the job market. They have imported criminals as if we had not enough in our own country. They have changed and are changing the whole face of the UK.I do not believe that multiculturism works this side of eternity as many of these people can not even speak English and bring lots of baggage with them.Time for us to pull the plug on Europe.
