England have made their one-day squad available for next Wednesday's opening round of Twenty20 Cup matches as part of their build-up to next week's NatWest Twenty20 International against New Zealand.

The 14-man squad led by captain Paul Collingwood is due to assemble in Manchester next Thursday prior to the following day's international at Old Trafford which precedes a five-match one-day international series.

Coach Peter Moores has made 11 members of the squad available and said: "We have a quick turnaround between the end of the Test series and the start of the NatWest series and we felt that the best way for the players to prepare for the series was by playing Twenty20 cricket for their counties."

He added: "The players enjoy the Twenty20 format and this will be an excellent opportunity for them to gain valuable match practice and sample the excitement and atmosphere generated by our own domestic competition."

The only three members of the squad who will not get a match next Wednesday is Nottinghamshire trio Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad as their county does not have a fixture.
