STABBINGS SOAR BY OVER 50%

SERIOUS stabbings have soared by more than half under Labour, the Daily Express can reveal.

Almost 6,000 victims were treated in hospital last year for stab or slash wounds compared with around 3,800 in 1998.

The number of women being attacked has increased by a third while figures for children under 14 being hurt have almost doubled.

It means the equivalent of 16 people every day are being so seriously wounded they need hospital care – often having to stay on a ward for two days. Chris Huhne, Liberal Democrat home affairs spokesman said: “This is shocking and irrefutable evidence of the scale of the increased problem.

“Unlike other stats or surveys, you cannot fiddle the figures on wounds reported at hospital.

“This underlines yet again the urgency of tackling the epidemic of teenage knife crime.”

The Daily Express investigation comes a day after only 20 MPs turned up for a Commons debate on the issue. And Gordon Brown’s “crackdown” on thugs who carry blades has been labelled a farce with teenagers under 16 still facing little more than a caution.

There is a reluctance to “criminalise” them at such an young age despite ministers joining police in admitting they are becoming more and more the main problem.

A Home Office spokesman said: “We are serious about getting knives off our streets and have doubled the maximum sentence for carrying a knife to four years. Those who carry a knife need to know that they will be caught and should expect to end up in court.”

NHS figures obtained by the Daily Express show hospital doctors in England handled 5,939 cases of assault with a sharp object in 2006/07 – a 54 per cent increase on the 3,866 dealt with in 1998/99.

The number of cases involving injured women increased from 409 to 554. Children aged under 14 were treated on 95 occasions last year – up 79 per cent on 1998/99.

Shadow Home Secretary David Davis said: “This is yet more evidence showing how violent crime has increased under Labour.”

After reading this article and then the one about the 12 yr old boy who broke into someones home with a knife , then was caught and charged with affray. He should of been sent down for at least 5 years, including anyone else found using a knife in a crime.
what did he get under this government strict enforcer of law, ordered him to abide by a attendance order and a two month curfew ban.(in other words a slap on the wrist).
It just a joke, and I bet they are laughing at this sentance passed.
Also his human right to not be identified should be scraped, if the person fels he /she is big enough to take a knife to the streets , then they big enough to have there nme and picture plastered in the national papers.

Perhaps the DE would like to tell us what proportion of these stabbings were inflicted by recent immigrants.

Then perhaps the DE would care to admit that the way to solve the problem is for us all to vote for the British National Party.

Those who state Britain is in the grip of an epidemic of Knife crime are either ignorant or out to purposelessly deceive.

A glance of the names, and the description of the perpetrators (the latter often omitted by the National media), show the majority of these crimes are committed by Non-Whites.

Until the the National media and the Politicians, stop ignoring the Elephant in the Drawing room - which is obvious the rest of us - and take measures to halt and reverse the 'Diversity' found in our cities, the bloodshed will get worse.

We do not have a knife problem, we have a IMMIGRANT problem.

How many twelve year olds would would carry a knife after getting say six strokes of the birch for a first offence.

How many of those who have committed murder with a knife would have done so if they knew that the rope awaited them if found guilty.

People who have no social conscience, cannot be persuaded to become law abiding citizens, they must fear the punishments which society can inflict on them.

The sooner we bite the bullet and take drastic action, the sooner we will clear this mess up.

I was under the impression Dictator Prudence U-Turn Unelected Brown mouthed something the other day about clamping down on knife crime.

Funny that. Just seen a picture of a TWELVE YEAR OLD BOY with a kitchen knife longer than his arm in the Press.

It is obvious, to anyone with an iota of sense, that this unelected Gormless apology for a Prime Minister has wholly lost the plot.

NO POLICE ON THE STREETS.

NO SPACE IN OUR PRISONS.

POLICE CELLS OVERFLOWING WITH DANGEROUS THUGS.

AND EVERY 12 YEAR OLD IS LAUGHING AT AUTHORITY - FOR THE SIMPLE REASON THEY CANNOT BE CHARGED FOR HAVING POSSESSION OF A KNIFE.

IT COULD ONLY HAPPEN IN THIS BLOODY BANANA REPUBLIC.
