FASHION FAUX-PAS AT CHEEKY ENGAGEMENT PARTY

Story Image

MP Lembit Opik and Cheeky Girl Gabriela Irimia

Thursday June 12,2008

IF THIS is the engagement outfit, what on earth will the wedding dress be like?

Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik and his Cheeky Girl bride-to-be Gabriela Irimia celebrated their recent betrothal with a party at London’s Embassy Club.

While Lembit wore a pinstripe suit, Gabriela was resplendent – as was her twin Monica – in a tasteful ensemble of skimpy black boob tube, bared midriff and pink mini tutu bedecked with badges saying “Cheeky”, “No Angel” and “Saucy”.

As the champagne was being poured into Gabriela’s glass for the engagement toast it fizzed up and overflowed, which prompted Lembit’s future mother-in-law to say: “Where we are from, when that happens at an engagement party it means that a baby is on the way.”

This was met by an eruption of laughter as it certainly didn’t look like there was any chance Gabriela could be pregnant with the washboard abs she had on display.

The couple are still deciding where to tie the knot. Lembit said: “The wedding is not going to be till 2009 and we were thinking of having it at Powis Castle in Mid Wales.”
