HAVE YOUR SAYSHOULD ALL COUNCILS RETURN TO WEEKLY BIN COLLECTIONS?Friday June 20,2008 CONTROVERSIAL fortnightly bin collections are being scrapped as local councils across the country defy the barmy bureaucrats and launch a common sense revolt.
Nearly 20 authorities have already reverted to weekly collections and scores more are considering following suit.

COMMON SENCE
30.06.08, 3:14pm
We all like to recycle, and we need it to be easy, then we can all get into the spirit, in Australia we had a weekly small blue wheelie bin collection for our regular garbage, and then one week we had the recycle bin which was a large brown wheelie bin emptied, then on the alternate week we had the green garden refuse bin emptied, it worked really well, and they allowed families with children 2 small wheelie bins if needed.
The recycle bin could take bottles, cans, plastic and paper and cardboard, the councils employed people with disabilities, people who find it hard to find employment ,to sort the plastic from the glass etc, it gives them a job and gives them money and independence, and a chance to make friends, councils pay minimum pay. But everyones a winner.
Our council East Riding of yorkshire are planning on bringing this scheme in,and I look forward to it.
The council rates are less than half of what we pay here, so come on councils, it can be done.

SHOULD ALL COUNCILS RETURN TO WEEKLY BIN COLLECTIONS ?
25.06.08, 4:27pm
Yes...... More if required.
All these collections be entirly free of community charge. Why, how ?
By shackling ' insert , "restrained" petty ofenders to pushcarts, unemployed 'maybe' even including 'unmarried mothers' !not necesserily 'in chains' but merly "restrained" in one way or another, but certainly, ' restrained,' unless of course long term. 'Common sense prevailing'
Plenty more where this came from.

BIN COLLECTIONS

In the Scottish Borders we still have a weekly houselhold bin collection & also a weekly paper & tin & plastic collection which is great. My daughter in Bristol has the most haphazard collections I have ever seen, no other wonder the vermin are becoming so noticeable again. And some people complain about an old lady feeding birds. The councils should be checking their own stupid ways not interfering with collections that have worked well for years

SOME COUNCILS GET THE BALANCE RIGHT

I am fortunate to live in an area where our refuge is collected weekly & recyled collected fortnightly this works well. Not all councils are full of barmy buracrats mine decided not to have chips in the bins as the considered it a waste of council tax.
