A BEAMING Dame Helen Mirren proves that she is still the queen of style.

The actress, 62, looked fantastic in a silver tuxedo jacket, black vest and matching trousers at designer Giorgio Armani’s Paris fashion show this week.

And although she loves her expensive red carpet outfits, the Dame made some surprising confessions.
The star of the film The Queen told other front-row guests: “I love second-hand shops.
“Or I make my own clothes because I’ve never found the kinds of things I liked.

“My mother taught me how to work a sleeve.”
She also said that she knows how to make a placket which is a hidden opening in a garment, usually created to disguise a zip.

Earlier in the week, the star took in the couture show of French designer Christian Lacroix, who made her stunning 2007 Oscars gown.

True to form, Dame Helen matched that priceless dress with a pair of plastic high heels.
She had bought them for £10 on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles the day before the ceremony and called them “stripper shoes”.
