Friday July 4,2008

A painting of Joseph star Lee Mead is to be raffled to raise money for charity, his fan club has announced.

The portrait of the winner of the TV show Any Dream Will Do, who is now starring in the West End in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, was commissioned by "The Lee Mead Appreciation Society".

Profits from the raffle, to be held at the Strand Hotel in London on October 18, will go to the Caron Keating Foundation to help cancer charities.

More than 500 fans of the performer are expected to attend.

Donna Chipping, head of the fan club, said she plans to start selling raffle tickets from July 26.

She said: "We are so pleased with the painting and Lee loves it too."

The painting was done by Cornwall artist Nicholas St John Rosse.
