UK NEWSJOBLESS FIGURES WORST FOR 16 YEARSThursday July 17,2008 By Gabriel Milland, Political CorrespondentMORE gloom was piled on the economy yesterday after the biggest jump in unemployment for almost 16 years. The number claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance soared by 15,500 to 840,100 last month.[>
It is the biggest monthly rise since December 1992 and the fifth consecutive increase in jobless figures.[>
But the real number without a job is much higher. The Office for National Statistics yesterday put the true figure of unemployed at 1.62 million.[>
Economists expect another 250,000 jobs to be shed over the next 18 months. [>
Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Chris Grayling said the numbers were “really worrying”.[>
“It’s clear now that joblessness is on an upward trend and that’s likely to make an already difficult situation worse,” he said. [>
“The Government needs to quickly put in place effective back-to-work support for those that do lose their jobs and struggle to find another.”[>
[> With 2.4 million claiming incapacity benefit, it means one in four of working age now does [> not have a job.[>
Manufacturing jobs declined further, falling 36,000 to 2.89 million in the three months to May, compared with a year earlier – the lowest since records began in 1978.[>
But total employment levels have hit a record 29.59 million – reflecting a greater number of people working into their old-age.[>

HIGHEST IMMIGRATION RATE FOR 16 YEARS
18.07.08, 12:12am
Jobs are being lost, and the gates are wide open, with handouts awaiting from ZaNu Labour, who have lied about pretty much everything since they have been in power.
The started off with Health and Education, Education, Education, instead they gave us Nu Crime, and Immigration, Immigration, Immigration.
But don't be down beat about the start of the greater depression, as it has just saved our necks from Labour's immigration invasion plan, as the wheels have just fallen off the fake economics that they pathetically tried to justify the need for immigration.
If you want to be sure about stopping the immigration flood and get back to a prosperous green and pleasant land, then come and join the BNP.

BRITISH JOBS FOR BRITISH PEOPLE.

We have probably over a million unemployed and still this goverment has an open door policy on migrants. We should be getting our own people back into work and send a load of migrants home.It must be galling to Brits that can not find a job when foreign labour is being used by local firms. The trade unions keep very quiet about this.Tony Blair and co in allowing Eastern Europeans to come here will and is having an effect on local people getting local jobs.

JOBLESS.....

6 weeks ago, brown and his gophers were saying we need more immigrants for the work force as they are such an asset to our growing economy, or was that an admin error.

IF JOBS CANNOT BE FOUND...

...then they should be conscripted into the Military where they will be trained for a career. Too many people think they can claim benefits abd sit on their backsides at home all day, while we the tax payers allow it.

... quite normal with 16 year oilds leaving school in the next few weeks. They should not be allowed to sign on for benefits but be allocated a job if they cannot find one on their own

THE TRUE JOBLESS FIGURE
17.07.08, 1:44pm
I can't see during a recession, how this country can continue to support 25% of the working population, on the sort of benefits that Labour pay out. Plus the one parent families, and the immigrants. I wont mention the pensioners because I know that they get a pittance. Taxes will have to go even higher. Crime will increase, and poverty will once again come back to Britain. Then the next government will have to take drastic measures to get us out of the mess caused by labour. These measures will rattle the public, and then they will put labour back, and the cycle will begin all over again.
