Snail kidnap scare
AN AQUARIUM has spent a fortune on security to protect a sea snail that can produce pearls the size of golf balls and is worth up to £30,000.
The giant zebra snail comes from the South China Sea and is 20 times the size of its British garden equivalent.
“We need to be vigilant to ensure no one kidnaps the snail in the hope that it contains hidden treasure,” said Graham Burrows, of Birmingham’s National Sea Life Centre.
