Beleaguered Brown confesses his failure
GORDON Brown yesterday made his clearest admission yet that his Government is failing, saying it was time to “adapt and rethink’’ Labour policy.
He spoke amid mounting speculation about his political future with Labour trailing in the polls. His party’s annual conference this month is being seen as a “make or break” event for him.[>

Fifteen months after he became Prime Minister, promising reform, he called for change in “the way we govern’’ and confessed the Government “must do more’’ and rise to challenges.[>

Mr Brown’s words came as he prepared to meet union leaders at the TUC dinner in Brighton last night. Delegates have demanded new policies but Mr Brown’s emphasis on rethinking New Labour policy will be seen by some as an attack on Tony Blair’s record as PM.[>
