Speaking at the premiere of the film, which documents British journalist Toby Young’s unsuccessful attempt at working for Vanity Fair magazine in New York, the 38-year-old said: “I’ve always had a crush on Gillian and where else in the world would I get to be sandwiched between her and Kirsten Dunst?

“I had two of the sexiest women in the world all to myself which was great!”

And despite being hand-picked to play the part of Young, the Hot Fuzz star insisted that the two men actually have nothing in common.

“It was a right debacle to play such a buffoon. Personally I do care what people think – a bit more so than Toby. Toby doesn’t really care what people think about him but I’m probably a lot more paranoid than he is.”

A heavily pregnant Gillian, expecting her third child, the second with British film director Mark Griffiths, was keeping mum about the baby’s name. She said: “I don’t want to reveal anything – it’s quite a normal name though, nothing crazy!”

The 40-year-old X Files actress, seen here with Simon, revealed that despite being “ready to drop” she could still get in a glamourous Alice Temperley dress and Jimmy Choo shoes, “although of course the shoes are platforms!”
