“You have to be psychologically happy to do a movie like this and I genuinely don’t diet,” the blond, who stars in his second Bond outing, Quantum Of Solace, tells next month’s GQ.

“I eat a full breakfast, full lunch, full dinner and once or twice a week I might even drink Guinness and red wine and all that stuff. Otherwise you go insane. You get into a stupid place. I’m obsessive enough about getting fit, it’s ridiculous.

“I’m 40 now and I’ve got to stop doing it soon. I have to start getting fat and old!”
