ROBERTS CLOSE TO WIGAN MOVE - REPORTS

Story Image

Wednesday October 22,2008

Sydney Roosters winger Amos Roberts has been released from the final year of his contract to take up a lucrative four-year deal with Wigan, according to reports in Australia.

The release of Roberts eases some of the salary cap pressure at the Roosters and will come as welcome relief to Roberts, who is thought to be looking for some financial security following a nomadic NRL career which included stints at St George Illawarra, Penrith and the Roosters.

Roberts, who played four games for Country Origin, had a remarkable try-scoring rate during his nine-year stint with 106 four-pointers in 179 top-grade games.
