REAL LIFE: THE TROUBLES I’VE SEEN

Story Image

BELFAST-BORN AND BRED: Eamonn Holmes

Tuesday October 28,2008

By 10.40pm, ITV1

BELFAST-born and bred, Eamonn Holmes (pictured) is the perfect candidate to front this poignant documentary reflecting on Ulster’s years of unrest.

Forty years have passed since Northern Ireland’s troubles began.

Bombings and shootings became part of everyday life, and now that peace has been restored, many people would prefer to forget the violence that tore communities apart.

Holmes asks Patrick Kielty, James Nesbitt, Gloria Hunniford and Barry McGuigan for their memories of growing up in
a part of Britain gripped by sectarian conflict.

He also reveals his own vivid recollections of this tragic time.
