Madonna and Britney Spears have both had their fill of trouble lately, so it seemed appropriate when they shared a stage in Los Angeles.

And while Madonna at 50 chose to bare the flesh in her trademark style, 26-year-old Britney – not always renowned for dress sense – looked positively modest in a buttoned-up shirt.

The blonde duo belted out a track together as part of Madonna’s American tour.

Madonna and her British film director husband Guy Ritchie are locked in a divorce dispute over her £300million fortune and over where their sons David, three, and Rocco, eight, will live.

Yesterday, it was reported that she has been reassuring the father of adopted David that the boy’s welfare is of great importance to her amid the divorce proceedings.

She sent aides to talk to Yohane Banda, 34, in Malawi last month and is said to be planning a visit to David’s home village after her tour.

Mr Banda said: “I welcome our communication because I believe it will help me iron out my concerns.”
