Carlos Tevez: Fired United into semi finals 
Thursday December 4,2008 By Nigel ClarkeCarlos Tevez gave Sir Alex Ferguson a reminder that he can still be a goal threat for Manchester United as the Reds eyed up more silverware last night. Tevez, who has found first-team appearances in short supply recently, scored a hat-trick and was involved in the other two United goals in a 5-3 Carling Cup victory against Blackburn Rovers.
It put United into the semi-finals of a competition they are now favourites to win.
First Tevez forced Rovers’ Aaron Mokoena into putting through his own goal, and then he set up Nani for the second just before the break. He scored the third from the spot, produced a classy finish for his second and then killed off a late Rovers fightback with his third in injury time.
Benni McCarthy, who scored twice, and Matt Derbyshire pulled goals back for Rovers but it was to no avail. Tevez had been concerned whether he has a future at Old Trafford, but after this display he has shown Ferguson he would be mad to let him go.
