Asking a few friends home for a charity do takes on a whole new meaning when you are a top City banker and one of your best mates is George Clooney.

The Hollywood star, 47, popped round to the London Mayfair house of Roger Jenkins, 52, a senior executive at Barclays, to raise cash for the victims of Darfur.

The Ocean’s 11 actor and other Tinseltown guests, including Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes, each donated £10,000 to the cause.

And the bash, which ended in the early hours of yesterday morning, raised £10million for the people in the war-torn region of Sudan.

British celebrity chefs Antony Worrall Thompson and Ainsley Harriott took charge of the kitchen.

But security guards had to nip out to buy more champagne after just two hours.

Mr Jenkins, 52, is widely credited with putting together a deal that rescued Barclays this autumn, and is thought to be the bank’s biggest earner, with an income last year of £25million.
