'Tis the season to be brolly with Charles

WHAT could Prince Charles and Camilla be saying to each other as they erupt into a fit of giggles?

The moment of royal mirth obviously struck a chord with the couple because they have chosen this picture for their official Christmas card this year – even though the incident took place in the height of summer.

They were in St Mawes in Cornwall in July for the naming ceremony of a new ferry – The Duchess of Cornwall – which carries passengers across the River Fal between the picturesque fishing port and Falmouth.

As Camilla did the honours, the Saint Piran flag (the black and white flag of Cornwall) became snagged in the dome-shaped umbrella she held to protect her from a summer downpour.

The result was an image of instant glee, as the royal couple gazed into each other’s eyes.

We thought it was the perfect subject for a competition, and invite Sunday Express readers to submit captions suggesting what Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall might have been saying or thinking.

The funniest will win a prize.

Mark your entries “Sunday Express Christmas Card Caption Competition” and send them to: The Newsdesk, Sunday Express, The Northern & Shell Building, 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN.

The card is not only unseasonal, it also involves a little bit of digital trickery. To make it work, officials removed a host of spectators who had been watching the unveiling from the upper deck.

The card will be sent to charitable volunteers, friends and supporters who have helped the Prince and Duchess.

Last year’s Christmas card photograph showed the royal couple smiling as they listened to a Welsh male voice choir in Ystradgynlais, Powys.
