MAN CHARGED WITH PENSIONER'S MURDER

A man has been charged with murdering 82-year-old Irene Hawkes

A 50-year-old man was charged with the murder of an 82-year-old grandmother found dead in her home seven months ago.

Irene Hawkes was found dead at her home in Wakely Road in Kinson, Bournemouth, Dorset, on May 6.

A post-mortem examination showed Ms Hawkes, known as Rene to her family, died from head and chest injuries.

David Towers, of Bournemouth, is due to appear at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court on Monday, according to a Dorset Police spokesman.
