CAHILL GETS A LEAD ROLE

CAHILL: Versatile

Saturday December 20,2008

By Paul Joyce

TIM CAHILL could be asked to ruin Chelsea’s perfect away record as David Moyes considers pressing him into service as an emergency striker again.

Australia international Cahill scored the winner against Manchester City last weekend in an unfamiliar forward berth and may be forced to reprise that role on Monday against Luiz Felipe Scolari’s Chelsea side.

Everton will give late fitness tests to both Louis Saha and Victor Anichebe and are without Yakubu and James Vaughan.

“Tim has the ability to play up front and he scored a great header against City, which he has been threatening to do for some weeks. We know he can do it again,” said Moyes.

“Both Louis and Victor are making slow progress. If we had a game at the weekend, I doubt if either of them would be involved in it. But playing on Monday night gives us a chance of getting Victor back.”

Chelsea have won eight out of eight on their travels and Moyes has never beaten them since becoming a Premier League manager in 2002.
