JAMIE'S THE MAN OF THE MOMENT

Jamie Carragher

Wednesday May 23,2007

By Paul Joyce

JAMIE CARRAGHER has urged Liverpool to live for the moment rather than fretting and worrying about what they have not achieved.

The defender insists a second Champions League success over AC Milan in three seasons would measure favourably against anything achieved in the past.

And Carragher believes a preoccupation with bringing the league title back to Merseyside for the first time since 1990 should not detract from what would be a remarkable feat in the Olympic Stadium.

“There are too many people who talk about what we haven’t achieved as a club,” said Carragher, “but sometimes we need to think about what we have done and we have the chance to do again right now.

“Whatever happens in the final, I know one of the first questions I’ll get asked is, ‘What about the Premiership?’.

“To be honest, at this moment, I don’t care about next season’s Premiership.

“I care only about winning another Champions League final, and if we win it again, that’s all I’ll be caring about for the next few weeks. We have got to stop talking about what we want to do and start focusing on enjoying the moment while we can.

“You don’t know how often chances like this will come along.

“I don’t know what it is about football these days, but no matter what you achieve, you can be certain someone, somewhere, will be telling you what you haven’t done.

“Look at Manchester United. They have had a brilliant season to win the Premiership, yet all you hear about is that they haven’t done it in Europe.

“It’s the same with Chelsea. Even though they won the league twice in a row and now have the FA Cup, people are saying what they haven’t done.

“We all know we need to do more in the league, but since 2005 our record in Europe is better than any team, anywhere. It must be.

“So instead of thinking what we want to do next, we’re all thinking about what we want to do now – and that’s win another Champions League final.”
