Aretha is a big fan of Barack
BARACK Obama could have a second career as a singing star, according to no less an authority than Aretha Franklin.
The Queen of Soul has heard America’s President-elect sing and says he could make it big in pop as well as politics.
She says: “I heard him sing a fabulous version of Chain Of Fools [a hit for Aretha in 1967 which also featured in the film The Commitments] at an event in Detroit last year. He has a good, melodic voice.”
Franklin, who has been a friend of Obama’s for the past four years, will be singing for him next Tuesday when she performs during the presidential inauguration.
“It’s exciting to be part of this special moment in history,” gushes the singing legend.
Franklin’s other plans include teaching singing masterclasses, a new album and developing a film about her life in which she hopes to be played by either Halle Berry or Jennifer Hudson.
