REVEALED: ENGLAND VS JAMAICA TEST SERIES LINE-UP

The squad will take on Jamaica, also known as the Sunshine Girls, in February

THE line-up for England’s test series against Jamaica was announced today, after a gruelling five-day training camp in Bath.

National selectors and head coach Sue Hawkins selected 12 of the 18 long squad members to play in a triple whammy of matches against the ‘Sunshine Girls’ in February.

The newest long squad recruits, Serena Guthrie and Stacey Francis – who were promoted from the U21s in September – were not picked.

Commenting on the selection process, Hawkins said: “The selectors found it extremely difficult because the standard has risen significantly over the last 12 months and the competition within the squad is noticeably higher than it has been in the past.”

Sonia Mkoloma will co-captain the squad with Karen Atkinson – who is currently sitting on 97 international caps.

Mkoloma said: “I’m really glad to have been selected as co-captain again this year with Karen. It was a tough selection process and a tough few days for all the team as everybody worked so hard.

“All of the long squad played well and could have stood up to the challenge as we were all strong contenders”.

The matches will take place in London (Feb 22), Coventry (Feb 24) and Nottingham (Feb 26).
