‘Hungry, so we cooked and ate my girlfriend’
A BLOODTHIRSTY teenager drowned and cannibalised his 16-year-old girlfriend.
He claimed he and a friend did it because they were hungry, Russian prosecutors claimed yesterday.
Maxim Golovatskikh and his friend, Yuri Mozhanov, both 19, are said to have barged into the bathroom where schoolgirl Karina Barduchyan, 16, was having a bath.
Police believe they held her under the water to drown her before they sliced meat from a leg and her insides with a kitchen knife before cooking it in the oven with potato.
The barbaric act came as the men, along with Karina and another young woman, gathered at a flat in St Petersburg in Russia to mark the Epiphany holy day in the Orthodox calendar.
Russians traditionally celebrate the religious festival by diving into icy waters to wash away sins, which is apparently what prompted the teenage victim to take a bath.
“The men got rather drunk and began quarrelling,” a police spokesman said.
According to sources, Golovatskikh told his friend, a florist, they should kill and eat Karina when she went for a bath at around midnight.
They are then believed to have pushed open the unlocked bathroom door and attacked the naked teenager.
“They cut up the body of the victim into several pieces, eating some of them and throwing the others into the bin,” a Russian prosecutor said yesterday.
“Then they cooked her meat and served up the meal with potatoes.”
Chief prosecutor Andrei Lavrenko said: “They were interrogated and explained the murder by saying they were desperate to eat.”
The other woman, named only as Zinovyeva, 21, ate the meal but police said: “So far she is not charged with Karina Barduchyan’s murder, but she ate the potato with her friend’s meat.
“We have to check if she knew what she was eating.”
The murder took place on January 19 but the girl’s remains were discovered only last weekend in plastic bags.
Two bags were dumped in nearby streets. One of them contained her head. Another was thrown into a canal.
Karina’s severed head was identified by her mother. The two men confessed immediately and are now being held
pending their trial.
Police said: “They confessed their guilt straight away. They explained they were hungry and drunk.”
Mozhanov is understood to be part of the Emo movement, a self-harming youth cult that glamorises death.
Investigators found traces of blood when they ripped out plumbing and floorboards in the apartment.
Mozhnov was convicted of robbery in 2005. Golovatskikh had been treated in the past at a psychiatric hospital.
Sasha, 16, a friend of the victim, said: ‘Please wake me up. Tell me this is just a nightmare.
“I just can’t stand it. I still hear her laughter. I will never believe she’s gone. She was like a sunray.”
