Isla pours scorn on soap past
SHE started her career in soapland but flame-haired Aussie “babe” Isla Fisher doesn’t hold much love for the genre.
The pint-sized actress, who now lives in Los Angeles with Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen and their 15-month-old daughter Olive, enjoyed small-screen success in her teens playing roles in popular soap operas Home And Away and Paradise Beach.
But she admits to finding them verging on the ridiculous.
“Paradise Beach had improbable plot-lines,” laughs Isla, 33, who plays the lead in new romantic comedy Confessions Of A Shopaholic.
“We were always in bikinis, even at funerals,” she tells GQ magazine.
“And someone who was my brother ended up being my father and I pulled him – it was just insane.”
The actress – who also starred in the film Wedding Crashers opposite Owen Wilson – is set to wed actor Baron Cohen, 37, some time this year. Life with him, one imagines, must be verging on the ridiculous already.
