Richard Harrison-Allen, 20, was found guilty of murdering Etem Celebi in November 2007.

The 17-year-old was shot in the back in the Smalley Close estate, Stoke Newington, north London, when two gunmen opened fire on him and a group of friends.

Etem was a semi-professional footballer who represented Leyton FC in the Ryman Premier League.

Harrison-Allen, of Hackney, east London, had pleaded not guilty to the killing at the Old Bailey but a jury failed to agree a verdict in October last year.

He was found guilty at St Albans Crown Court in a retrial earlier this month.

During the trial, Victor Temple QC, prosecuting, said the shooting was part of an ongoing conflict between two rival gangs and may have involved mistaken identity.

Harrison-Allen, known as Scarface, belonged to the Stamford Hill Man Dem gang while Etem and his friends were part of the Smalley Man Dem gang.

The court heard Etem had taken shelter behind a car and was shot in the back as he tried to run away from the scene.

Harrison-Allen will be sentenced at St Albans Crown Court.
