Bryan Griffiths, 54, appeared before Nuneaton magistrates charged with murdering gardener Trevor Morse, who died on Monday when he was hit by the aircraft’s rear propellor.

Mr Morse, 48, from Alderminster, near Stratford-upon-Avon, died at Long Marston airfield after apparently driving to talk to the crew of the gyrocopter which had been following the Warwickshire Hunt.

Heating engineer Griffiths, from Bedworth, was remanded in custody to reappear at Warwick Crown Court.

A second man arrested on suspicion of murder at the same time as Griffiths has been released on bail, pending further inquiries.

Prosecutor Philippa Cowley said Mr Morse died “virtually immediately” from head injuries. The court heard that Griffiths was a member of an anti-hunt animal rights campaign and was a volunteer hunt monitor, liaising closely with police.
