Should Jacqui Smith resign?

Sunday March 29,2009

JACQUI SMITH has claimed Commons expenses, paid by the taxpayer, for the cost of watching adult films at her family home.

The Home Secretary, already embroiled in an expenses row, submitted the bill as part of a £67 claim for television services in June last year.

As she fought for her political life last night, Ms Smith apologised after being confronted by the Sunday Express.

She promised to repay the money. In a statement she said: “I am sorry that in claiming for my internet connection, I mistakenly claimed for a television package alongside it."

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

IS JACQUI SMITH'S CAREER DOWN THE DRAIN? SHOULD SHE RESIGN?

Yes she should, she broke the eleventh commandment "Thou shalt not be caught" and that is the only reason for the apology and repayment.
How on earth can she still take her seat in that den of iniquity?the only reason she can is because as the the question says she is "shameless".

PUT A STOP TO IT NOW

Deal with her later, first change the rules for EU
MP's expenses also those of central and local government expenses so that in the future none of them will be able to fleece the people for their creature comforts and outlandish expense claims which are not acceptable ,not only now when money is tight , but in the future.
They should not decide their own rules, an independent body should,in the public interest, decide what is acceptable and fair to the taxpayer

THIEF

Yes she should resign along with all the other thieving scoundrels. They have no morals and should be ashamed of them selves when working class people are struggling all over the country to pay their mortgages on one home let alone two. These people are nothing more than common crooks, they have no concept of what is right and what is wrong. They are benefit cheats on a grand scale.

FOR EXAMPLE

From bbc online.

Conservative leader David Cameron claimed nearly all of his permitted allowance in mortgage interest/rent payments - £21,293 - and did not claim for other items such as council tax, food, cleaning or repairs, the figures show.

Of the six MPs, then Conservative leader Michael Howard spent the most on "additional costs" - including mortgages, utility bills, council tax, phone bills, cleaning, food and provisions and household repairs, claiming £20,347
Mr Blair spent £15,490 and Mr Brown £14,304.

Meanwhile, then Lib Dem leader Charles Kennedy's £12,869 additional costs claim all went on mortgage interest payments

ALF/HARRI

"Labour MPs who are out to make large sums of money on their expenses."

You seem to think that MPs expenses only apply to the labour government. Tory and LibDem MPs are claiming expenses too.
