Harry’s keeping eye out for Ken

TOTTENHAM manager Harry Redknapp will make a renewed bid for Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones at the end of the season.

Redknapp failed with a £14million move in January but hopes to persuade Sunderland to sell in the summer.

Despite spending more than £40m in January, Redknapp has identified “two or three” players he wants to add to his Spurs squad.

He is keen to boost his strikeforce and has kept tabs on both Jones and Genoa’s Diego Milito. But Juventus and Inter Milan are both chasing Milito, which has pushed Jones back to the top of Redknapp’s wanted list.

Jones signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract at Sunderland at the end of January, but the uncertainty at the Stadium of Light has given Spurs hope a deal could yet be struck.

Sitting just two points and one place above the Premier League drop zone, Sunderland know they will face an almighty battle to keep Jones if they go down.

And even if the club stay up, it is not clear whether Ricky Sbragia will still be the manager next season, with both Sven-Goran Eriksson and Alan Curbishley possible replacements.

Sunderland enquired about the availability of Darren Bent in January and Redknapp would let the striker move in the opposite direction as part of a deal for Jones.

If Sunderland are not interested, Redknapp will listen to offers from elsewhere for Bent in a bid to boost his transfer pot. Everton have been long-term admirers, but have not had the cash to buy the England striker.

Redknapp also wants options on the left, but will need to offload players to finance deals.

David Bentley has attracted interest from Spain and right-back Alan Hutton could be offered an escape route back to Scotland with Rangers. Fulham are lining up a double bid for Gareth Bale and Tom Huddlestone. Giovani dos Santos, on loan at Ipswich, can also leave.
