SHOULD ALL POLICEMEN CARRY GUNS?

Should our police be armed?

Monday June 11,2007

A POLICE officer was killed and another man grievously wounded in a triple stabbing in Luton earlier today.

Jonathan Henry, 36, is believed to have been responding to an attack on a window cleaner in the town centre.

At a press conference at Luton police station this afternoon, Detective Superintendent Keith Garwood refused to reveal the exact circumstances surrounding the officer’s death.

He said PC Henry was attending 999 calls from two members of the public after a man, said by witnesses to be a window cleaner, was stabbed in the back.

What do YOU think? Should our police force be carrying guns to protect themselves?

SHOULD POLICE CARRY GUNS

10.09.07, 11:20am

How about bringing back hanging, that would stop 99% of the murders and we would have a more civilised society, and I do mean civilised, no doubt someone will come back and say how can you be civilised when we have capital punishment. Well before we stopped capital punishment we did have a decent and law abiding society.

WHEN THE PUBLIC HAVE MORE FIREPOWER THAN THE POLICE. YES.

"if all police officers carried guns, then I feel that more members of the public would acquire a gun in order to defend themselves when committing a crime. janny22 •"

This was always the reason given when I was a copper in the 80s.

Well I got some bad news for you sunshine, the public are doing that ANYWAY.

Or have you not been reading the news this last year?

SHOULD ALL POLICE CARRY GUNS

I think the answer to this is no.......I think the specialised training for use of a gun would be impossible for all police officers and we simply do not have the resources.
Mistakes, as we know are made, even at the highest levels of SO19, and if all police officers carried guns, then I feel that more members of the public would acquire a gun in order to defend themselves when committing a crime. No, definitely for me , this is a specialised area only...........

NO MENTION OF JEAN CHARLES DE MENEZES! ...

15.06.07, 12:02pm

The 100% innocent Brazilian man; forcibly held down and shot like a rabid dog with EIGHT bullets pumped into his skull to pulp his brain!
... Never mind that IF he had been a terrorist and carried a bomb the train and everyone inside would have turned into a fireball!

WHAT IF THAT YOUNG MAN'S NAME HAD BEEN "JOHN SMITH"? - Would this story have ever been pushed under the carpet and the responsible police still go back on duty unscathed by accusation? NO!

... Then Tony Blair's HORRENDOUS argument ... "What if he HAD been a terrorist?" ... The police were just "doing a job"
Funny how we all heard he wore a heavy jacket on a hot day and was running and jumping over barriers ... UNTIL CCTV cameras proved the LIES!

Police with guns? Welcome to Fascist Britain!
