A WOMAN brandishing a gun was shot dead by police in a wealthy market town yesterday.

The 37-year-old martial arts expert is said to have tried to run away when officers told her to put down the weapon.

Crime experts believe the incident is the first in modern times to end with the fatal police shooting of a woman armed with a gun.

A weapon recovered later from the scene was last night claimed to be a ball-bearing gun.

The woman was killed by a single shot to the chest after being surrounded by eight armed police in a car park in Sevenoaks, Kent, in the early hours.

Officers were alerted by several 999 calls at about 1.20am claiming the woman had a gun.

A police source said: “The woman was known to the police and is from the Sevenoaks area. She was waving a silver handgun around just before she was shot.

“She was initially reported to have been seen with a gun in the High Street.

“Police approached her but she ran down an alleyway into the car park. She was ordered to put the gun down but she refused and an officer opened fire.”

SHOOT TO KILL POLICY

Our officers should be shooting to kill only if it is a necessity. The shoot to kill policy depends on what is in front of you and the danger of the situation. Police have always had a shoot to kill policy for example for a kidnapper or for anyone who will endanger lives, and the policy was brought out , quite rightly for potential suicide bombers, Operation Kratos,.
As we know , there are situations when things can go entirely wrong, and innocent people get killed, and this is where the specialist training comes in. In our society, we must have a shoot to kill policy, but not a licence to kill, there is a difference, and the training of these officers must be so disciplined . Having said that , no training in the world can fully prepare anyone for a life threatening situation with additional adrenalin running through your body.........I think that if a police officer says stop , put your weapon down, then the public should do it........immediately !!!!!

If someone is seen to be brandishing or aiming a weapon and not drop it when asked, it becomes a matter of survival, you or them you do not wait until you see the whites of their eyes.
If they do not want to take the chance of being shot,don't carry a weapon. If someone chooses to carry a weapon ,one day they will use it

Whatever sort of society have we become when we even consider for a moment that anyone has not the right to shoot to kill to protect themselves?

Of course our police officers should all be armed and shoot to kill if threatened. Even, I understand, ordinary householders can by law shoot to kill if their life is preceived to be threatened.
Those who lay their life on the line every day should certainly have the right a/ of an ordinary citizen and B/ special rights in consideration of their job and the degree of selflessness we expect of them.
Yesterday BBC news evening gave details of three murders in the space of three minutes and more later.
How can police be expected to cope with people like those those who set fire to a young woman while she was still alive to the extent they couldn;t tell what colour her skin was (She was white)
Guns are one way of killing, but there are the horrific "new" weapons being used like machetes and the six foot sword etc normally not seen in hands of ethnic British and there is the new burning with acid and the setting on fire of victims like Kriss Donald who was fifteen years old when he was killed

An Army colleague I know has pointed out to me, that if you shoot to wound, you never know how that injured person will react. They may just shoot at anybody that moves in a desparate attempt for revenge. So shoot to kill is the safest option to protect innocent people. I have no remorse for these criminals, how are you to know if a gun is real or not? Do you wait for a police officer to be shot before you can shoot at them? Shoot to kill and let them know that is what will happen if you carry a gun.

DEADLY WEAPONS SHOULD BE MET WITH DEADLY FORCE!

A knife, machette, gun, petrol bomb if there is a danger to innocent life then shoot to kill, but protect the police with camera's on their guns like the Israeli army uses.

Minature camera technology can be activated along with the safety and record the incident for the officers protection, a nutter with a gun who would I rather see dead,

A criminal or a parent, son or daughter doing their job to protect others shoot to kill its the only safe way, and as an added bonus we can save on unnecessary NHS and Legal Aid and Prison costs!

In the western world we are deceived into thinking that all things can be solved in a material way, instead of a spiritual way, hence the manufacture and sale of guns etc, the real reason is because one can actually experience and get physically rich on materialism in any shape or form living or dead all you have to do is spread the means, the method and the motive to bring about great rewards. The government know they can never cure the problems of killing only control it, and they have no real desire too anyway because it’s a physical action triggered by a mental response which always has the money motive involved in it somewhere down the line, and as they tax everyone on the creation of materialism involving money its not in the governments interest to stop it completely so the killing goes on in one way or another and will continue to go on and escalate in the towns, countries and world as power, wealth and money increases. What we are seeing and experiencing is war being brought down into the streets because war is the biggest human killer of all, and the greatest wealth creator. God and Paradise can be found in the world just as long as you’re a capitalist, with God creating all things and the devil ruling it as a being in a paradise situation on earth. I suggest you get a M16 or something like that the odds of survival will be more in your favour and guess what you will be helping the economy and replenishing the earth.
