SHOWBIZPIANO MAN JOEL AUCTIONING BABY STEINWAY
Wednesday April 22,2009 BILLY JOEL is helping to raise money for budding musicians in New York by auctioning off a signed baby grand piano.
The Piano Man has agreed to autograph the £41,380 Steinway to benefit a programme at Mount Carmel-Holy Rosary School in East Harlem, which is run by non-profit organisation Ten O'Clock Classics. Joel is a charity board member. Proceeds from the online sale, at CharityBuzz.com, will go to provide music theory classes and other lessons for music students. Bidding ends on 6 May (09).
