Jailed: 7 years for terror duo
TWO extremists cleared of spotting targets for the July 7 suicide bombers were jailed for seven years yesterday.
Waheed Ali, 25, and Mohammed Shakil, 32, plotted to attend a training camp for Jihad fighters in Taliban-held territory in Pakistan.
The men were arrested at Manchester airport carrying army equipment and knives.
London’s Kingston Crown Court heard: “You can be confident that they were not going to Pakistan for a holiday.”
Ali and Shakil, of Beeston, West Yorkshire, were cleared on Tuesday of scouting possible targets for the London 7/7 killers. But they were found guilty of conspiracy to attend the terror camp.
They are expected to serve half the term and are likely to be eligible for release next year because of time already spent behind bars.
