WOMEN ONLY WASH THEIR BRAS SIX TIMES A YEAR

WOMEN may have come a long way from the stereotypical 1950s housewife.

But as more and more take on the role of the breadwinner, it seems they've become a bit slack with the laundry.

Mothers and grandmothers would be disgusted to learn the current generation of women have picked up such bad washing habits they only put their bras in the washing machine six times a year.

The revolting figures means the average woman wears her bra seven times - equating to roughly two months - before discarding them in the laundry basket.

And according to the survey, women have no excuse for their bad habits as they have a bra for every day of the week - with the average woman owning around 15.

The survey, which was carried out on 2,025 women, also discovered that the most common stains found on dirty brassieres are stale perfume, body lotion, fake tan and sweat.

Dr Beckmann Stain guru Lesley Naylor said: “The problem is that this lack of washing means that bras look tatty, grey and dirty which obviously doesn’t look good but is also far from advantageous for the life of the bra.

"The extra dirt is clearly not good for the wearer’s skin as bras are fitted snug to the chest and this build up of bacteria can create irritation."

She added: "Dirty bras could become a thing of the past if British women washed them more regularly and maintained them every few months – this would also prolong the life of the bra."

But it's not just the average woman who doesn't wash her bra regularly - celebrities have fallen into the trap too.

Acclaimed fashion designer Vivienne Westwood recently revealed she never washes her bras as she hates greying straps.

NO EXCUSE FOR NOT WASHING BRAS

If the average woman has 15 bras there is no reason why we women cannot do one bra wash a week and put on a clean bra everyday. A clean bra feels so much nicer against the skin and is odour-free.
At the last count I had built up a collection of 45 bras. However, this does not give licence to myself other women with similar sized collections to leave them longer before a wash - a once weekly wash is not excessive.

I pay little attention to statistics and so-called experts. Surveys - forget them! The average woman hasn't got the time or the inclination to participate in them.

It is not logical to believe that the women who on average own 15 bras would wear one to death. Please!

Another all-encompassing, sweeping statement: Women (all women understood) wear tacky bras by choice.

Given the disturbing news about swine flu, the conjecture about what will appear in the ministers' outside expenses, the situation of the Gurkhas, the threats by the mayor of Calais to dump the immigrants there on the shores of Britain, I would think that the newspapers would have more to headline than this nonsense.

Where is the figure of 2 months from?

If a woman wore her bra for ~4 TOTAL DAYS before washing (either consecuitively or alternating), then wore her next one etc wearing all 15 before putting the newly-washed first one on again, then she would need to wash each 5-6 times in one year (15 bras, 4 days each = 60 days).

The only way to get 2 months is if she only wore one bra in the whole year, which she washed every two months!
