Our Kate hits the heights - in heels
WHEN New York construction workers posed on girders way above the city in those iconic Thirties photographs, at least they didn’t have to do it in six-inch heels.
That’s virtually what Kate Winslet had to do this week in a daring photoshoot to celebrate her being voted the world’s Ultimate Natural Beauty.
She stripped down to basics in the fashion shoot for Harper’s Bazaar magazine in Manhattan.
Kate, 33, recently beat Audrey Hepburn to clinch the title after judges praised her “classic English rose complexion”.
The mother-of-two has claimed she has a working-class background. “It was hand-me-down shoes and 10p pocket money on a Saturday that didn’t go up till I was 11,” she said.
The star, married to director Sam Mendes, divides her time between New York and England. But they may head back here for good soon.
She said: “Our parents are getting on. Sam said we need to find a way to be in England more. I said, ‘Well, at the point our parents really need us to be around, of course we’ll be there’. And he said, ‘Darling, that’s now’.”
