Carly Barrett and Carrie McCarten, both 20, barged into 18-year-old Paige Afellat's home in Anfield, Liverpool, while she showered last June.

They drew back the curtain and launched a ferocious attack - Barrett using a blade to slice Miss Afellat's cheek and jaw while McCarten stabbed her arm with a broken bottle.

The pair carried out the attack - which was compared during a trial at Liverpool Crown Court to the infamous shower sequence in the Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho - after hearing rumours that Miss Afellat had been seeing McCarten's boyfriend.

McCarten admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and Barrett was convicted of the same offence after a trial in January.

The pair will be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court.
