Jemima’s fright
She’s famed for her tumbling tawny mane but Jemima Khan confesses that the strain of being involved in a plane hijack caused her hair to turn white.
She and her two sons escaped death following the incident in Nairobi in 2000 but the trauma manifested itself in the loss of hair on either side of her head.
“The hair grew back white in those patches,” she says, “and I’ve had to dye it ever since.”
Describing her hair as a “security blanket”, she has only ever cut it “shortish” twice.
“Both times hideously,” she tells Vogue magazine.
“I would love to have a gamine crop but I know it would look terrible on me.”
