HAPPY END TO TELLY DRAMA

Monday July 2,2007

JULIA Boosey likes a long-running saga - but as a TV drama - not as a consumer dispute.

The North London mum bought a 37-inch LG television for £1,300 almost eight months ago from Currys.

Sound problems began shortly afterwards and Julia paid out over £160 more after technicians diagnosed that aerial connections were the cause.

But with the problems persisting and the prospect of more repairs, Julia lost heart and appealed to Crusader to help get the set replaced.

While she is protected by a one-year guarantee, renewal is not a buyer's automatic right.

However, the sooner a fault emerges and the greater the number of repairs, the stronger the case a customer has to have new goods or a refund. Three repairs is often seen as a watershed number.

Currys has now agreed Julia can have another television and a new Samsung is on its way.

"You have made nights in something to look forward to again. Thank you so much," said a delighted Julia.
