SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREETFriday May 16,2008 An Oscar-nominated Johnny Depp gives another great performance as the vengeance-seeking barber in Tim Burton’s graphic, ghoulish adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s Seventies’ Broadway musical. More like a Hammer horror than a traditional knees-up, it is extremely well made, with Burton creating a film that is both menacing and touching.
